Trial dates

The Viking Club holds regular road taxed vehicle trials.

At a trial the object is to drive your vehicle through sections set out by the Clerks of the Course without hitting any gates. Gates are pairs of canes set out at intervals along the section. Each pair is numbered starting at 10 and working down to 1. You score the points for the highest numbered gate you hit or fail to go through.

The sections are set out so that you the driver has by their skill to navigate and negotiate the terrain without touching any of the canes.

We usually complete 10 sections, that's 5 sections driven in each direction, on a days trial. The winning driver scores 4 points.

You arrive at the trial site between 8.45am and 9.30am for signing on. At this point your vehicle goes through scrutinerring to check that it is mechanically fit to trial. Please bring a copy of your MOT certificate with you. After the driver's briefing at about 9.45 the trial gets underway. There's always a break for lunch and plenty of friendly chat along the way.

The club championship is based on the league table of drivers in each class. At the end of the year the driver in each class with the highest score of points receives a trophy.
